So. I have decided to go to Ghana to work for Plight of the Child International (http://www.plightofthechild.org/ should you be so inclined). I have bought my tickets (May 27th - July 9th), and am soon to go shopping with the mother to get who-knows-what gear is necessary for a trip to the middle of nowhere. Thankfully, I have 3 people who have already been to Africa who are around to advise me and whom I have already bothered with 5 billion questions about everything related to my voyage to Africa.

In case anyone is going "Where the heck is Ghana?", I believe this map will prove useful:

Notice how it's surrounded like a gazelle by a heard of lions (where "lions" means dangerous countries in turmoil)? Yep, poor little Ghana. However, I assure you other than pick-pockets and some robberies, it is perfectly safe...nothing we don't get here in America. And I certainly don't plan to pop over to Cote d'Ivore any time soon, so don't worry your pretty little heads about that.

I will hopefully be updating this blog weekly (or more) once in Ghana, with pictures and information. I am not entirely sure how great the internet is there, but I imagine it is good enough. If I managed to post pictures from China, where the internet was horrendous, I imagine Ghana couldn't be much worse.

Also, I will be blogging a bit about my preparations, perhaps someone will find this useful in the future. :)
